Rebecca Jones Makes Podcast Appearance on The Grout Line with Tile of Spain

In episode four of The Grout Line with Tile of Spain, AIRMADA Drying Solutions National Sales Manager Rebecca Jones spoke with Ceramic Tile Technical Spokesperson Ryan Fasan. The two discussed AIRMADA’s innovative role at the intersection of shower design and wellness, educating podcast listeners as to how airflow plays a crucial role in creating

cleaner, fresher and more comfortable bathroom environments – while also supporting the performance of tile surfaces that define many modern wet rooms.

From Concept to Innovation

Jones shared the company’s history, crediting Founder Ron Tucker’s creative problem-solving for the introduction of AIRMADA’s inaugural product: the AirPocket Door.

“He was redoing his own steam shower, and he wanted to eliminate the swinging, drippy door,” Jones said. “He wanted a shower pocket door, and so he did some research and realized there was no shower pocket door on the market. So he went and started working on it. That’s when the AirPocket Door was developed. It’s a similar concept to any other pocket door. We have the pocket that is hidden in the wall. This pocket is made of stainless steel with AirJets in the spine, and the glass creates the door. Once you slide the glass into the pocket, it completely dries the glass. There are a couple key benefits to that which is exactly what he was looking for: no swinging, drippy door; eliminate the squeegeeing; and also it creates a nice, space-saving, streamlined look.”

Improving the Shower Experience

The AirJet Shower Drying System was then developed using the same technology. The system uses AirJet Nozzles and/or Linear integrated into the ceiling or walls of the shower that circulate air and quickly dry the space. The system is designed to protect the life of tile and grout, prevent mold and mildew, reduce the need for harsh cleaning chemicals and reduce the risk of slips and falls – promoting a safer, healthier indoor environment.

Considering Safety with Tile in the Shower

The conversation also turned to slip resistance, particularly as tile continues to play a central role in shower and wet room design. Fasan noted that industry standards of slip resistance mandate testing of tile, though friction on surfaces is often measured when tiles are dry.

“As our spaces are getting smaller and we have fewer bathrooms in a lot of our living spaces, generally there is more than one person having to shower in the morning or evening. If you’re the second person, you’re walking onto what you think is a slip-resistant floor, but now it’s wet and the friction is different. The system that AIRMADA has created does so many great things for end users and also the industries that complement your product.”

Keeping Indoor Spaces Clean and Dry

While the AirJet Shower Drying System is a natural fit for tiled bathrooms, its applications extend well beyond the shower. The system can also be used in locker rooms, pool houses, mudrooms, dog baths and other indoor spaces prone to moisture buildup.

Ultimately, Jones’ and Fasan’s conversation highlights an important consideration in bathroom design: beautiful tile is only part of the picture. The way a space manages moisture can have a meaningful impact on the longevity of surfaces, safety of the area and everyday experience of the people who use it.
